Board Meeting Minutes

 Dear Kootenai Residents:

We are sending out an August issue of the Newsletter  with Back to School information, for further newsletters please continue to view online.  www.sd274.com

 School Starts:  Tuesday, August 31 (full day 8:28 a.m. — 3:00 p.m.)

No School:  Monday, September 6th, Labor Day

The following business was conducted at the regular August board meeting held Monday, August 9th, 2010:

 Adopt Policies 2010-2011:

Student, Substitute, Staff, and coaching handbooks were updated and adopted.  Handbooks will be provided to all students on the first day of school.  All handbooks will be posted online as well.

Transportation:  Bus routes, backing, and safety transportation were approved without any changes.  When severe weather does arise please be patient if busses are running a little bit late.  Drivers will do their best to arrive at scheduled times.

 Football/Track Restroom/Concession Materials:

Mrs. Amy requested district assistance to complete the bathrooms and snack shack located at the track with the hope of completing the project prior to the first football game.  District funding normally utilized to rent the potty huts will be directed towards the project completion.

Volunteer Coach:  T.J. Hammond was approved as a volunteer football coach.  There are 26 students out for football this year.

Teacher Changes:  Mrs. Schneider will be teaching 3rdgrade and Mrs. Riberich will be teaching 6thgrade at the elementary.

Kootenai school district was approached about the possibility of coop-ing with St. Maries for girls soccer.  Board decision was to maintain the current programs and not add any additional sports during this financially difficult time.

Transportation Director  Mr. Hoyer has been named the Transportation Director.  Perry Anderson was moved from substitute bus driver to regular route driver and will be replacing Mr. Jim Sharron.

We would like to thank Stephen Franklin for the work he has completed on our district flag and the restoration of our Kootenai School sign.  Thanks for taking pride in our school.

 Sincerely,

Lynette Ferguson

Superintendent of Schools
